Popularity of poetry is fading

     

Poetry has been appealing men from the very old times. No record yet claims precisely when did the practice of poetry came into existence. Poetry has remained the source of entertainment from the very existence of societies and communities. In ancient times the sources of entertainment to the people were very finite and poetry felt under that. As time goes, people started influencing toward other entertainment sources, leaving the field of poetry behind. This affected the popularity of poetry immensely. With the passage of time humans initiated ignoring the significance poetry have. But there are still innumerable poetry lovers and poets exist. It is believed that the poets of ancient times are more pro-efficient than today's. There are many factors behind this notion:

Firstly- Lack of interest of today's people in poetry. This is the core reason why many aspiring poets opt out. Poets didn't get the proper acclaims and positive feed-backs they deserve. Leaving the enthusiastic poets annoyed, lost of interest and they look out for some other option.

Secondly- Low budget of money involved in this profession now a days. Present time poetry is not popular as it used to be in ancient times, the field of poetry has also degraded in the monetary terms.  Every one has to look out for one's sustenance. Due to the low budget money involved in the profession of poetry, poets have to look for other professions to get their financial position stable leaving full time poetry practice behind. This leads to lack of focus on improving poetry standards.

These are the substantial reasons why we don't get poets like Shakespeare, W.H. Auden, William Blake, Mirza Ghalib, now a days. The essence of poetry is incredible but it’s very disappointing to see its getting degraded with each passing day. It seems the popularity of poetry is fading!
